TRAVEL JOURNAL

📅 Travel Journal

Week 1

October 23rd - October 29th
Travelled between New Bark and Cherrygrove, arriving on October 25th. Continued-on towards Violet and was about 3/4 of the way by the end of the first week. Fought just about every Pokémon possible on the route, as he wanted to “grind”.

Pokémon Roster:
Pawniard: Was LV5 and leveled to LV13
Week 2

October 30th - November 5th
Arrived in Violet on November 2nd and spent a day resting and re-supplying on food and clothing. Got on the road again on November 4th and continued fighting any and all possible Pokémon. Was about a third of the way down Route 32 by the end of the second week.

Pokémon Roster:
Pawniard: Was LV13 and leveled to LV21
Week 3

November 6th - November 12th
Arriving at the entrance of Union Cave on November 9th, Joey spent more time most people did in the cave as he was both somewhat turned around and uncomfortable in the underground setting (despite both its simplicity of layout and its non-claustrophobic environment). On November 12th, to Joey’s immense relief, he would come out the other end of the cave and be in open air once again. During the entirety of his time in Union Cave and on Route 33 he would be fighting just about any Pokémon he could, but also ended up fighting them just as a result to wandering the cave for hours.

Pokémon Roster:
Pawniard: Was LV21 and leveled to LV29
Week 4

November 13th - November 19th
Relieved to be under an open sky once again Joey would book it to Azalea. Splurging, he would stock-up on food and cold-weather supplies, as well as kick it for a day with the Slowpokes. Rest and replenished, he would get on the road again on November 14th entering the Ilex Forest. The stories told by the townsfolk would have Joey understanding that the forest is to be respected and, just having spent some time lost underground, stumbling around a massive forest that casts unending nighttime from its canopy didn't sound great. Leaving a tasty dish from one of the Azalean Diners as an offering at the shrine he'd get underway, emerging out the other side on-schedule the afternoon of the 19th and encountering a startling "before and after" of the snowstorm.

Pokémon Roster:
Pawniard: Was LV29 and leveled to LV37
Week 5

November 20th - November 26th
Emerging from the forest into a winter wonderland, Joey would begin his jaunt through Route 34 on November the 20th. Despite the cold he would make it to Goldenrod City the evening of the 23rd. The size of the city compared to the places he'd been before and the quality of the nightlife there would immediately draw a contrast to the places he'd been to previously which, combined with the inclement weather, gave him sufficient reason to camp-out for a time. Crashing on the couches of the Pokémon Center and picking-up odd jobs around the city let him save some decent cash, while the draw of the game center gave him the perfect place to spend it. During his roaming, he would end up cleaning-up down on the cold beach where he would encounter and catch a Wailmer. The Fourth Wall Event would catch him quite off-guard and he’d end up visiting quite a few places in passing that he didn’t even realize were on the proverbial docket. Popping back-and-forth between a bunch of different locations was like something out of a dream for Joey, and he’d only vaguely recall the running around. After the event concluded he’d still be in Goldenrod, but the warp pads for Ecruteak, Olivine, and Cianwood would have all been added to his recorded travel points.

Pokémon Roster:
Pawniard: Was LV37 and leveled to LV45
Wailmer: LV17
Week 6

November 27th - December 3rd
After his winning streak at the Game Corner Joey would be contacted by a young man named Falco about purchasing eggs for some shiny Pokemon. In a stroke of luck both the eggs he was looking for were up for grabs in a matter of days, and Joey was able to get on the road with both a Totodile and Charmander added to his team. Having made the discovery of the added Warp Pads that the “Weird Weekend” had given him Joey would get on the road the morning of December 1st, departing from Ecruteak along Route 42 and arriving in Mahogany by that Friday. Detouring to visit the Lake of Rage, Joey would spend a day to actually catch his breath from all his running-around and enjoy some local sights before turning his attention back his travels.

Pokémon Roster:
Pawniard: Was LV45 and leveled to LV53
(Evolved into Bisharp)
Wailmer: LV17 and leveled to LV25
Week 7

December 4th - December 10th
His arrival in Mahogany had perfectly coincided with the Delibird’s descent from the Ice Caves, meaning he could sign-up for the Secret Santa with no issue, but the relatively mild temperatures he’d enjoyed the previous week would be nowhere to be seen by the time he departed for Route 44. Instead a cold front would settle-in, meaning that the further he went the more snow and ice covered the ground and muddied the commute. Entering the Ice Caves on the night of the 6th gave him a little shelter from the wind and snow, but meant that any and all further going would be rough.

Pokémon Roster:
Bisharp: Was LV53 and leveled to LV61
Wailmer: LV17 and leveled to LV25
Dratini: Began at LV5 and leveled to LV13
Totodile: Began at LV1 and leveled to LV5
Charmander: Began at LV1 and leveled to LV5
Week 8

December 11th - December 17th
Travel through the Ice Caves would be hard enough normally, but having to leave his bike back in Mahogany meant doing it all on foot. About halfway through the cave Joey would take a bad tumble and sprain his ankle, and only leaning on Hermos for support would let him maintain a steady pace. Despite the setback that his injury would cause, though, he was still able to get through the caves and back to civilization within nine days. Coming in to Blackthorn on the 15th was the final step for Joey to finish his circuit of Johto, meaning he was free to kick-back until after the holidays. Resting his leg at a hotel for the night Joey would return to Goldenrod via Mahogany, retrieving his bike and getting back to the bustling metropolis.

Pokémon Roster:
Bisharp: Was LV61 and leveled to LV69
Wailmer: Was LV33 and leveled to LV41
(Evolved into Wailord)
Dratini: Was LV13 and leveled to LV21
Totodile: Was LV13 and leveled to LV21
Charmander: Was LV13 and leveled to LV21
Week 9

December 18th - December 24th
Kicking it in Goldenrod was a far cry from the cross-country trek Joey had previously been undertaking, and he would take full advantage of the rare opportunity to relax and treat himself. Staying in actual hotels instead of crashing on Pokemon Center couches as he'd previously been doing was a luxurious experience for both the young man and his companions, and being able to either eat in sit-down restaurants or cook food for himself was definitely a step-up from the camping food and trail rations he'd been largely existing-on since his arrival. While Joey busied himself with Christmas shopping his Pokemon were able to engage in actual combat training, simulating proper battles and getting valuable experience rather than simply jumping any and all wild Pokemon like they normally did. The presence of the Holiday Market meant Joey was able to grab presents for both his fellow duelists and his Pokemon, but partaking of the many rare held items quickly earned him the judging looks of the ever-present Delibirds. Despite his confusion at their cynicism, being in a position to actually take-in his surroundings ended up helping Joey discover another source of holiday foul. Finding himself face-to-face with the Pokemon equivalent to his longtime favorite Christmas destination, he wasted no time in putting together a holiday gettogether for the Duel Monsters community. With invitations out and shopping done, all that remained was to wait until the big day.

Pokémon Roster:
Bisharp: LV69 and leveled to LV77
Wailord: Was LV41 and leveled to LV49
Dratini: Was LV21 and leveled to LV29
Totodile: Was LV13 and leveled to LV21
(Evolved into Croconaw)
Charmander: Was LV13 and leveled to LV21
(Evolved into Charmeleon)
Week 10

December 25th - December 31st
The 25th saw a big party held for all the Duelists of the Pokemon world, with Christmas Chicken and presents for all in attendance. Joey would take on the role of Santa for the event, ensuring that people ate their fill and took part in the fun and festivities, before disappearing and re-entering as himself. The event let many who hailed from the Yu-Gi-Oh world engage in their preferred pastime for the first time since being spirited-away, and helped Joey build a lot of good connections and new friendships. Once the dust had settled from the day's revelry, though, it was time to get back on the road. Hopping aboard the Eastern Kanto Ferry out of New Bark, Joey readied himself for weeks of cold riding and mapped-out his ideal route. Arriving in Palette Town the night of the 29th he camped-out and hit the road hard the following morning. Speeding along on his bike, Joey would reach Viridian City just in time to ring in the new year.

Pokémon Roster:

Week 11

January 1st - January 7th
Setting forth onto the welcoming Route 2 saw Joey speed through the area without issue, entering into the labyrinthine Viridian Forest shortly afterwards. Despite the confusing layout Joey would set a blistering pace through the woods. The notion of spending any longer than necessary in a forest famous for it's plentiful and massive insect life was all the motivation he needed, and a fire was subsequently lit beneath him. By the time the first week of his adventure was over Joey was on the final leg of the journey and practically knocking on the door of the forest's exit.

Week 12

January 8th - January 14th
Emerging from the Viridian Forest late on January 8th, Joey took great satisfaction in setting up his camp beneath the stars again. Temperatures were rapidly dropping though so, though he had the right gear for the frigid temperatures, things weren't exactly comfortable. By the afternoon of the following day Joey had reached Pewter City, where he happily took advantage of being in civilization again. With a warm shower, some laundry done, and a good night's sleep in him Joey hit the road again the very next morning. The treck along Route 3 went smooth and fast, and a heavily-bundled Joey would happily enter the mountain by the morning of the 14th.

Week 13

January 15th - January 21st
While being in Mount Moon meant that Joey was largely sheltered from the temperatures outside the underground trek was anything but accomodating to bicycle travel. Having to either walk alongside or carry the bike was tedious in the extreme, but didn't do much to slow the general pace of travel. By the end of the week Joey had emerged from the mountain and was out onto the highly-accomodating Route 4.

Pokémon Roster:

Wailord: Was LV73 and leveled to LV81

Week 14

January 22nd - January 28th
After the annoyance that physically hauling his bike though the mountain had been the downhill slopes of Route 4 were a welcome relief. By midday on the 24th Joey slid in to Cerulean City and made a repeat of the pit stop he'd done in Pewter. Refreshed and replenished, Joey got on the road again the morning of January 25th, heading eastward on Route 9 and starting south on Route 10. The simplicity and open nature of the routes in Kanto was a refreshing change after the mountain ranges and ice caverns he'd had to endure in Johto, making continuous travel much more appealing than it had been before despite the colder weather. Pulling an all-nighter Joey biked through the night, aiming to arrive after midnight in Lavender Town.

Week 15

January 29th - February 4th
Wheeling in to Lavender Town at practically the witching hour would normally have the potential for being quite a spooky ordeal, but Joey was far too pooped to pay attention to anything frightening and just flopped himself down for bed at the first possible opportunity. Coming in to town so early in the day had the added benefit that, once he was actually awake again, Joey had the whole day to avail himself of the town and its amenities and so both he and his Pokemon would have a fun day of picking out clothes and and eating overpriced cafe food. Come the morning of the 30th, though, it was back on the road and Joey was once again hard-charging on Route 12. Silence Bridge, as the route was generally known, was a pleasant ride but necessitated a lot more care than his previous outings, as the ocean breeze and the steep drops meant that the possibility of taking a truly unpleasant plunge was ever-present. Despite more than a few close calls, Joey succeeded in biking his way across the bridge without incident and, by the afternoon of February 1st, had begun the westward trek along Route 11. The weather had begun to warm by the time Joey had made his way to the grassy roads leading to the Diglett Cave and, though he was happy for the warms, the freezing rains and biting winds were certainly an unwelcome addition. The further westward he got the better things became but, as he drew closer to Vermilion City, things began to get nasty once again. Things were properly nasty by the time he pulled into Vermilion City on the evening of the 4th , but that worked out just fine for the indoor nature of his pit stop.

Week 16

February 5th - February 11th
The clear weather was a godsend to Joey's cycling, and the quick-and-easy natures of Routes 6 and 7 was fantastic. Blowing through both in a matter of days, Joey took another pitstop in Celadon City on the 8th before setting out for the much-anticipated Cycling Path. Reaching the path by midday on the 9th he strapped in for a downright automated biking experience and enjoyed being able to take-in the scenery and feel the wind in his hair. By week's end he'd only made it halfway down the route, though, so a healthy chunk of cycling still lay ahead.

Week 17

February 12th - February 18th
The clear weather holds strong for Joey's continued trek down the Cycling Path, with light smatterings of snow cropping up as he neared the end. Despite the frozen additions to his journey the weather remained unseasonably warm and the feeling of Spring was present in the air despite the time of year. Emerging from the southern gatehouse of the Cycling Path late on the 14th Joey pitched camp and then hit the road hard again the next day. Rolling in to Fuchsia City the afternoon of the 15th gave Joey plenty of time to enjoy his pit stop as well as taking advantage of all the post-Valentine's savings on sweet treats. Being in Fuchsia also gave him the opportunity to pick up a set of Malicious Armor for his Charcadet, allowing it to evolve to Ceruledge but dropping some serious coin in the process. First thing the next day Joey hopped aboard the Fuchsia Ferry, arriving in the Seafoam Islands about midday on the 18th.

Week 18

February 19th - February 25th
More nautical fun ensues as Joey continues his trip aboard the Ferry. The gray skies typical of the time of year make for a significantly drearier trip than would be enjoyed during the warmer times of year, but the relative emptiness that the off-season brings to the ferry does mean it's easy for Joey and his Pokémon to busy themselves with various forms of training. Their arrival in Cinnabar on the 20th gives a bit of an opportunity to stretch their legs on flat ground, but the lack of pretty much anything on the island means that they're quickly ready to depart once again. With all of Kanto's Warp Points under his belt Joey took his freshly-collected means of transportation for a spin and traveled back to Saffron City. Enjoying the first chance in some time to just rest and relax he spent the night kicking-back and just took-in the sights for the rest of the week.

Week 19

February 26th - March 4th
With the arrival of a new month came the long-awaited beginning of Joey's run through the Gyms of the Johto Region. Stocking up on a pool of restoration items prior to starting his showdowns Joey would then warp to Violet City to face-off against Falkner, arriving on the 28th of February and successfully defeating his team before moving-on to Azalea Town to the following day for a repeat performance against Bugsy. Now the proud owner of both a Zephyr and a Hive Badge, Joey would focus on the continued training of his Team in preparation for the next week's Gyms.

Week 20

March 5th - March 11th
Joey's second week on the Gym Circuit would see him returning to the metropolitan heart of the region, arriving in Goldenrod City to and succeeding in defeating Whitney on the 7th. Wasting no time in pursuing his second badge for the week Joey warped to Ecruteak the following day to take on Morty, emerging successful yet again. With both a Plain Badge and a Fog Badge under his belt Joey called it a week and spent the remainder of his time restocking on items and directing his Pokémon in their preparatory training for the battles to come.

Week 21

March 12th - March 18th
The third week in Joey's Gym Journey would bring one of the biggest surprises and greatest changes to the routine he'd developed since coming-in to the world of Pokémon, as a journey back to New Bark Town would bring him face to face with his dear friend and totally not anything more Mai Valentine. After an emotional reunion the two resolved to travel together, heading to Cherrygrove to get her settled-in and give them to reconnect. Despite the week of pampering and relaxation the pair enjoyed Joey still made sure to take the time to hit the Gyms, warping-in to Cianwood on the 14th to face-off against Chuck before doing the same in Olivine against Jasmine on the 15th. Joey would come out on-top in both engagements, making him the owner of a pair of shiny new badges, and letting him return in triumph to Cherrygrove after each of his outings.

Week 22

March 19th - March 25th
The fourth week of Joey's dive into taking-on the Kanto Gyms would see him and Mai continuing to relax at the Cherrywood Spa, with both of them beginning to realize the awkward reality that pretty much every interaction they have now would are tantamount to dates. Both of them still in a perpetual state of denial, though, they focus on taking advantage of the amenities available to them and just generally enjoying each other's company. Despite the relaxing way the pair were spending their time this week marked the final push in regards to Joey's showdown with the Johto Gym Leaders and, so, Joey was like a coiled-spring when it came to preparation for the coming battles. Warping-in to Mahogany on the 21st Joey faced-off against Pryce, succeeding in defeating his team and netting himself the penultimate badge in the region. The following day was the final showdown and meant that Joey would face-off against Clair in a battle of Dragon-versus-Dragon. Despite the strength of the opposing team Joey would emerge victorious, earning another badge and marking his completion of the entire Johto circuit. With Kanto next on the horizon Joey would talk to Mai about their travel plans, as well as any Pokémon she wanted to capture before leaving the region, and the pair would strike-out towards the Safari Zone on the 23rd. Travelling by Pokéflight, the pair would get as far as Cianwood by the end of the week where Joey would seek-out and capture a wild Sawk.

Week 23

March 26th - April 1st
Joey and Mai had ended the previous week on the proverbial doorstep of their destination so the start of the next week would see them complete the final leg of their trip, ending their day with them camped in the Safari Zone itself. Spending the entirety of March 27th hunting through the Zone saw the pair successfully capture a Petilil for Mai, adding the first new addition to her team. After camping-out for another night the pair would get back in the air the morning of the 28th and arrive in Cianwood by the late afternoon. As opposed to their trip out, the return voyage would be much simpler due to both of them being able to make use of the Warp network. Warping pad-by-pad back to Goldenrod would result in both of them having no small amount of jetlag, but being able to relax in the high-end accommodations of the big city for the remainder of the day allowed for sufficient relief to get them back on their feet in time to catch the Magnet Train early the following morning. Catching more sleep and taking-in the sights over the course of six hour trip, the pair would arrive in Saffron in time for lunch. Joey had a schedule to keep however so, after getting Mai settled-in, he would Warp out to Pewter City to face-off against Brock. As the starter Gym of the region the defenders of the Boulder Badge stood little chance against Joey's Team, and the same would hold true for the Cerulean Gym the following day. With the first week of his Kanto Journey completed, Joey was able to spend the rest of the week exploring new sights with Mai and begin the new month hunting-around for potential costume makers for his Pokémon Team.

Week 24

April 2nd - April 8th
With a chance to catch his breath after his brief cross-country trek Joey finally turns his attention to the strange postcard he and Mai had received the previous week. The presence of a formal event, particularly one as lavish as this one sounded like it would be, was something Joey was positive Mai would leap at the chance to attend but Joey also knew that he had the equivalent to Kryptonite when it came to social graces in such situations. Determined to be a +1 that wouldn't embarrass his date Joey would make sure that the trips he and Mai took to Celadon weren't just for her benefit, taking the time to hit the stores himself and get some quality formalwear tailor-made in preparation of the event. Joey's Gym challenge was still underway though so the morning of the 5th would see him arrive in Vermillion City face-off against Lt. Surge, emerging victorious and earning him a Thunder Badge. Going for an encore performance the next day, Joey would go up against Erika's Team in the Celadon Gym and win himself a Rainbow Badge, putting a wrap on his battles for the week and allowing him to focus his attention solely on the coming Prom. Taking to the skies and flying to Tohjo Falls for the big event, Joey and Mai would be able to take-in the sights and splendor of the fantastic venue and functionally have an all-expense-paid getaway together. The gathering of outworlders would bring Joey together with a couple of truly surprising guests during the festivities, as both his close friend Tristan Taylor and his beloved younger sister Serenity had also been brought into the world. Ecstatic at the revelation, the two were able to fill-out the last two spots in the mandatorily four-person luxury tents they all spent in. Ending the week still in the full throws of the prom Joey is able to enjoy being surrounded by people he loves for the very first time since coming to the world of Pokémon which, needless to say, leaves him feeling a lot of emotions.
